The article titled “Coronavirus Cases Seemed to Be Leveling Off. Not Anymore” revolves around specifically the health sciences. It starts off by detailing how much the coronavirus has spread as well as the rise in death rates. The article states “But on Thursday, officials added more than 14,840 new cases to the tally of the infected in Hubei Province alone, bringing the total number to 48,206, the largest one-day increase so far recorded”(NYTimes). These statistics demonstrate the fact that the coronavirus continues to spread and even worse, it continues to kill. The article continues to describe how the coronavirus has gotten so severe that scientists are struggling to prevent any more deaths from happening. The doctors in china even go as far as to admit how much strain they are under. These doctors are under the constant pressure of preventing the coronavirus from spreading as well as preventing it from claiming any more lives. Some of the struggles that these doctors face is not being able to properly diagnose the coronavirus due to their lack of test kits. These doctors have no other choice than to perform ct scans and check the patient’s lungs for lesions or any abnormalities. This is problematic for the doctors because of the very fact that some of the cases that they may believe to be the coronavirus, may not be the coronavirus. Instead, some of the cases may simply be seasonal flu but the doctors are having trouble determining what the people may have. The article ends with a discussion amongst the researchers dealing with the coronavirus. They are all having issues as to how and what they can record as data. Furthermore, their greatest concern is that the coronavirus continues to spread.
